Description

The Lexington Belt is a Bluegrass tradition originating in the tack shops of Lexington, Kentucky, during the late 1960's. They are hand crafted in the finest domestic bridle leathers available and appointed with the traditional #5 solid brass buckle. According to one story, the grooms from the local racing stables and breeding farms would take old race reins and neckstraps to the local tack shops, and request that these items be reworked into a waist belt. It would further be requested that a brass plate, like those attached to the leather halters worn by the thoroughbreds in their care, be riveted on to the newly created belt with the individual's name, instead of the horse's name. These original Lexington belts are available in a 1 1/4" width. The brass plates may be personalized with up to 16 letters and spaces.

PLEASE NOTE: these belts are measured from the tip end of the buckle to the middle hole and are available in even sizes 26-46. Order your belt 4" larger than slack size or an accurate waist measurement. Please contact us if you have any questions. We cannot accept returns of personalized or customized items.
